​The name of this masterpiece? The "Mulbagalu Masala Dosa."

​The Spot: Sree Krishna Grand

​For some, this might be new; for many, it's a familiar taste. But after years of my tongue being battered by Tamil Nadu's Pongal and Upma, this was a fantastic change!

​The place I found was Sree Krishna Grand, a restaurant located right on the highway between Chittoor and Bangalore, in a spot called Mulbagalu. It's the perfect stop for anyone traveling this route to relax and recharge.

​The Order and the Conversation

​I ordered the Mulbagalu Masala Dosa—I saw someone at the next table enjoying it and decided it must be the special!

​The gentleman next to me asked, "You haven't had Masala Dosa here before?"

I gave him a look, "Sir, are you suggesting we haven't eaten a Masala Dosa with potato filling before?"

​He smiled and explained, "It's not that, Pa. This town is where all the quality milk, ghee, and butter are sourced before heading to Bangalore."

​I nodded, pretending to understand, and he immediately sensed my hunger. He spoke to the waiter in a high-pitched Kannada.

​"What's with the high tone? Are you requesting something so politely?" I quipped.

​He looked genuinely surprised, "Raja, do you understand Kannada?"

"Yes, I understood everything easily. Better luck next time!" I replied, and just then, the waiter arrived with the Dosa.

​The Verdict: Taste Worth Travelling For

​The Dosa was perfectly crisp, reddish-brown, and you could almost see the potato Masala filling beneath the edges.

​I broke a piece off the side, dipped it in the Masala (without chutney first!), and tasted it. Wow! The potato filling was golden brown, slightly reddish, like a lover's face flushed with anger!

​The moment the Dosa reached my mouth, the fragrance of the ghee hit my nose first. (I even joked about the importance of the nose, referencing a line from the Ramayana to my friend!)

​The combination of the spicy Kaar Chutney + Dosa + Potato Masala was perfect.

​My friend, happy with my appreciation, explained the secret: They use a special, fresh, tender variety of potato here, which is ideal for the Dosa Masala, unlike the older varieties used for side dishes.

​True to his anticipation, he ordered a filter coffee immediately, knowing my ritual of sipping coffee after Tiffin. He insisted it was great, made with Nandini milk, which he claimed was far superior to our Aavin milk.

​Idly-Sambar and Pongal have always been my top favorites. But honestly, after tasting the Mulbagalu Masala Dosa, I've officially become a fan of Karnataka's breakfast culture.

​The Electric Commute: Tambaram to Mambalam

​I parked my vehicle at Tambaram Railway Station and bought a local train ticket for Mambalam to head to T. Nagar. As I ascended the steps, the sight of a child climbing, holding the hands of both mother and father, was a beautiful start—the beginning itself was glorious.

​I checked which platform the next train to Chennai Beach would depart from. Seeing a train ready to leave, I knew my time for running to catch it was long gone, so I slowly descended, preparing for the next one, amused by those who still sprinted. When my train finally arrived, a man asked me, "Sir, will this train go to T. Nagar? I'm new to the city." "Yes, it will," I replied. I smiled, thinking of how many new faces #Chennai welcomes every single day ❤️. The train pulled out of Tambaram.

​The Mid-Journey Social Study

​Past Tambaram Sanatorium (a mini T. Nagar in itself), a considerable crowd disembarked at Chromepet. Yes, Chromepet is now T. Nagar's competitor, with most of the major stores having opened branches here. After Chromepet, the number of people only increased at the subsequent stations.

​However, there is one great advantage to this rail travel: we reach our destination quickly, which is a blessing, as the GST Road sees heavy traffic during Diwali. The train was packed. In the general compartment, men and women silently gave space to each other. Interestingly, though the ladies' compartment was slightly less crowded, the passengers argued over space, reminding me slightly of an assembly session!

​We finally arrived at Mambalam station. I noticed the change allowing passengers to alight on both sides of the platform.

​Mambalam: A Cross-Section of Society

​Stepping off the train, I overheard a mother exclaim, "So much crowd!" She started walking straight ahead, but her son stopped her, asking, "Where are you going?" She innocently replied, "Everyone is going that way!" The 90's Kid son laughed, "If everyone goes forward, we shouldn't follow the crowd," as he gently guided her hand.

​The 60's Kid man, frowning at the crowd, complaining to his wife.

​The 70's Kid woman, arguing a point with her husband.

​The 80's Kid man, simply nodding to everything his wife said.

​The 2k Kids, declaring, "You listen to me; I won't listen to you."

​The entire spectrum of society, the growth and change of generations, could be witnessed in this one location. I took off my headphones, put away my mobile, and chose to fully immerse myself in and experience the moment.

​The Heart of Shopping: Ranganathan Street

​Ranganathan Street is familiar to many, especially Chennai residents. You can buy everything needed for home, weddings, and every other occasion here. The crowd was heavier than usual. The police had set up temporary watchtowers and were monitoring everyone. Though the police broadcasted warnings in the crisp voice of Nirmala Periyasamy (famous for her Sun TV news voice), the image of her face and her signature 'Vanakkam' flashed in my mind.

​I imagined the late Saravana Stores owner, Selvarathinam Annachi, standing there (a framed photo perhaps), smiling and watching the customers arrive at his shop.

​I finally walked past the street towards Panagal Park. Traditional stores like Nalli Silks, Kumaran Stores, and RmKV stood proudly, reaffirming their timeless presence. As I passed Prince Jewellery, the mesmerizing radio jingle from the past, "Prince Jewellery, Panagal Park Madras," echoed in my ears.

​I visited Pothys, Chennai Silks, and Pachaiappas Silks, taking a coffee break now and then to keep my energy up. Floating along with the sea of people, I bought a cup ice to enjoy. I said goodbye to Mambalam, promising myself, "Next year, I'll be back." A wonderful experience indeed.

The Soorasamharam festival, attended by millions of devotees, is celebrated on a grand scale, on par with the famous festival at Tiruchendur. A key figure who paved the way for this monumental event is K.P. Kandasamy, the former owner of the Dinakaran newspaper and former Tamil Nadu Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments.

The credit for elevating the Soorasamharam festival from a small-scale event to a massive celebration goes to him. He was the one who built a mandapam (hall) for the Kulasai Mutharamman Temple, enabling the festival to be held on the beach, similar to the one at Tiruchendur.

Following this, the number of devotees grew year after year, and the festival has now transformed into a magnificent public celebration.

It is believed that Goddess Mutharamman and Ganamurtheeswarar bless and fulfill the wishes of their devotees. By their divine grace and the unwavering devotion of the people, over ten lakh devotees now gather to witness this Soorasamharam festival. During the ten days of Dasara, both Tiruchendur and Kulasai are in a festive mood.

 The Gold Begging Bowl and the Cricket Bat Gun

​In the film "Saamy", director Hari wrote a scene that has always stayed with me. The character Perumal Pitchai sees a beggar outside a temple and says, "I know him. Even if you give him money, he will buy a begging bowl made of gold and continue to beg."

​This scene came to my mind recently while watching a cricket match. A Pakistani player, on a global stage, celebrated by treating his cricket bat like a gun and his runs like bullets. This gesture, intended to be a show of power, instead highlighted how deeply violence can be ingrained in a person's mindset.

 The Gold Begging Bowl and the Cricket Bat Gun

​In the film "Saamy", director Hari wrote a scene that has always stayed with me. The character Perumal Pitchai sees a beggar outside a temple and says, "I know him. Even if you give him money, he will buy a begging bowl made of gold and continue to beg."

​This scene came to my mind recently while watching a cricket match. A Pakistani player, on a global stage, celebrated by treating his cricket bat like a gun and his runs like bullets. This gesture, intended to be a show of power, instead highlighted how deeply violence can be ingrained in a person's mindset.

The film Indira tries to ride on the current trend of “psycho killer” thrillers. In such stories, the villain usually murders for a reason that the audience can understand or at least find chilling. Without that, the character risks coming across as unintentionally funny.

That’s exactly what happens here. Instead of fear or tension, the so-called psycho killer only evokes laughter.

Adding to the chaos, the protagonist is introduced as a police officer. But rather than doing his duty, he’s suspended—because he was caught drinking on duty and even driving under the influence. His alcoholism becomes a running theme, and in a strange twist, the heroine herself starts drinking with him. Eventually, his excessive drinking costs him his eyesight.

There’s a moment where the heroine promises to support him and emotionally holds his hand to guide him. It almost feels touching—until the very next moment when she is shockingly murdered.

This raises the central questions: is her murder connected to the serial killer? Can our hero uncover the truth despite his disability?

Unfortunately, the screenplay fails to deliver engaging answers. Yes, there are twists, but they lack impact. By the climax, the film not only confuses the villain but also leaves the audience puzzled and unsatisfied.

Verdict:

Indira ends up being unintentionally comical. Even the “psycho killer” feels less like a threat and more like a comedy element.

⭐ Rating: Better skipped unless you’re in the mood for unintentional laughs.

Rating: 4/10

இதே கல்லூரி காலத்தில், என் நண்பன் டேவிட்.

கிளாஸ் முடிந்த பிறகும், அவன் தான் என்னை நிறைய கற்றுக் கொடுத்தான். அவன் எடுத்துக் கொடுத்த லெக்சர்ஸ் தான், எனக்கு degree வெற்றிகரமாக முடிக்க காரணமாயிற்று.

அதற்குப் பிறகு, நான் IT துறையில் சேர்ந்தபோது, என் முதல் டீம் லீட் டாஸ்.

அவர் வேலை மட்டும் இல்லாமல், work culture, discipline, personal–professional balance எல்லாத்தையும் கற்றுத் தந்தார்.

ஒரு உதவாக்கரையை இன்று உதவும்கரையாக மாற்றி,

இச்சமூகத்தில் என்னை ஒரு பொறியாளனாக கட்டமைத்த அனைத்து ஆசிரியர்களுக்கும் என் மனமார்ந்த நன்றிகளும் வணக்கங்களும் 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Today marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. In his honor, India celebrates Teachers’ Day across the nation. #TeachersDay 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫

In my life, I have been blessed with many teachers. But my very first teacher was my mother.

The door of our house was my blackboard. With a bowl of rice in her hand, she became both a mother and a teacher to me.

During my early school days, it was Mrs. Chellamma and Mrs. Eswari who helped me shed the fear of nursery and primary school, making me walk into classrooms with joy. For this, I remain forever grateful.

It was Mrs. Hemavathi, my Tamil teacher, who inspired me to write essays fluently and with ease.

It was Mrs. Janaki, my science teacher, who sparked in me a lasting curiosity for science.

History and Civics were never “just subjects” in textbooks because of Mrs. Shanta and Mrs. Vasantha. They taught me to see them as living, breathing ideas—something I continue to read with fascination even today.

In college, Professor Raj Mannar gave me encouragement I’ll never forget. Many times, he pointed to me in class and said, “He will become a great man one day.” That faith has always been a source of motivation in my journey.

Beyond professors, I cannot forget my friend David. After college hours, it was he who patiently taught me many subjects. His lectures helped me successfully complete my degree.

Later, once I joined the IT industry, my first team lead, Doss, became a teacher in his own way.

He taught me not just technical skills, but also work culture, discipline, and the balance between personal and professional life.

From being a hand that once needed help to becoming a hand that now helps others,

I bow down with gratitude to all the teachers who shaped me into an engineer in this society. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

"A teacher imparts knowledge;

A true teacher shows how to live with it."

Every teacher I have met in my life has done both.

In the past, the twin cities of Tirunelveli and Palayamkottai were separated by a river. To cross it, people relied only on parisals (coracles).

Seeing this hardship, a “noble individual” wanted to do something good for the people. He approached the British Collector with his money, intending to fund a solution.

But the Collector mockingly said:

“Go throw your money into the water.”

Taking those words literally, the man did throw his money into the water — by building a bridge across the river between Tirunelveli and Palayamkottai.

That noble person was Sulochana Mudaliar. 🙏

In honor of his service, the bridge was named after him.

From that day till today, it is proudly known as the

👉 Sulochana Mudaliar Bridge. ❤️

திருநெல்வேலி – பாளையங்கோட்டை ஆகிய இரட்டை நகரங்களை அந்த காலத்தில் பிரித்திருந்த ஆற்றை கடக்க, அப்போது மக்கள் பரிசல்கள் மட்டுமே பயன்படுத்தி வந்தனர்.

அந்த நிலையை பார்த்து, மக்களுக்கு நல்லது செய்ய வேண்டும் என நினைத்த ஒரு “தனி நபர்” தன்னுடைய பணத்தோடு நேரடியாக ஆங்கிலேய கலெக்டரிடம் சென்றார்.

ஆனால் கலெக்டர், அவமானப்படுத்தும் விதமாக —

“உன் பணத்தை தண்ணீரில் போய் போடு” என்று கூறினார்.

அதன்பின், சோழர்கள் மெதுவாக பல்லவர்களின் நிலப்பரப்புகளை கைப்பற்ற ஆரம்பித்தனர்.

9ஆம் நூற்றாண்டின் இறுதியில், பல்லவர்களின் ஆட்சி குறைந்து, சோழர்களே முக்கிய பேரரசாக உயர்ந்தார்கள்.

சிறுவயதிலிருந்தே மற்ற கடவுள்களை விட பிள்ளையாருடனே நமக்கொரு நெருங்கிய தொடர்பு இருக்கும். காரணம் எங்க பார்த்தாலும் பிள்ளையார் கோயில் இருக்கும். அது ஏன்? எதற்கு? என்ற வரலாறு (STD) க்கு போகாமல், நேராக என் கல்லூரிக்கே போவோம்.

தமிழ்நாட்டில் உள்ள பெரும்பாலான கல்லூரிகளின் முகப்பில் பிள்ளையார் கோயில் இருக்கும். அதற்கு விதிவிலக்கல்ல என் கல்லூரியும்.

ஒரு முறை, செமஸ்டர் exam க்கு முந்தின நாள் மாலை, நண்பன் ஒருவன் "டேய் பிள்ளையார் கோயிலுக்கு போயிடுவோமா?" என்றான். "சரி போயிடுவோம்" என்றேன். அடுத்த நாள் பரீட்சை கேள்வித்தாள் கொஞ்சம் எளிமையாக இருந்தது. படிச்சதுக்கு சுமாரான நம்பிக்கை வந்தது – தேறிவிடுவோம்னு.

அப்போ மனசுக்குள் ஒரு அல்ப ஆசை வந்துச்சு – "அடுத்த exam க்கும் இப்படியே நடக்குமா?" என்று. சரி, முயற்சி பண்ணிப் பார்ப்போமா என்று, அடுத்த exam க்கு முந்தின நாளும் நண்பனோட சேர்ந்து பிள்ளையார் கோயிலுக்கு போயிட்டேன். மறுநாள் அதுவும் நல்லாப் போச்சு.

அந்த அனுபவத்திலிருந்து என்ன கற்றுக்கிட்டேன் என்றால் –

எதிலாவது நம்பிக்கை வைக்கணும். அதே நேரத்தில் நம்ம கடமையையும் செய்யணும். அப்போ வெற்றி நிச்சயம் நமக்கே.

என் சிறு வயதில் தியேட்டர்ல போய் பார்த்த முதல் விஜயகாந்த் படம் சின்ன கவுண்டர். 

அந்த நினைவுகள் இன்னும் மனதில் பதிந்தே இருக்கின்றன.

Super Star ரஜினிகாந்த், உலக நாயகன் கமல்ஹாசன் ஆகிய இரு வித்தியாசமான ஆளுமைகளுக்கு நடுவில், தென்னக ரசிகர்களின் பேராதரவை தனியாகப் பெற்றவர் – நம்ம கேப்டன்.

சினிமாவில் கலரான கதாநாயகர்கள் கோலோச்சிய தருணத்தில் , கருப்பு தங்கமாக மதுரையிலிருந்து தெற்கே முழுவதும் ஒரு நாயகன் உருவானார்.

வைதேகி காத்திருந்தாள் படம் அவருக்கு மிகப்பெரிய அடையாளம் தந்தது. அந்த படத்தில் அவர் நடித்த விதமும், “ரசாத்தி உன்னை” பாடலும் – இன்னும் பல இழசுகள் முனுமுனுக்கும் பாட்டு.

அதன் பின் வந்த பல படங்கள் கேப்டனின் தனித்துவத்தை காட்டின. குறிப்பாக, அவரின் fight scenes-க்கு தனியே ரசிகர் பட்டாளம் இருந்தது. 

புலன் விசாரணை – அப்போது பாடல்களே இல்லாமல் வெற்றி பெற்ற படம் என்பதில் சினிமா வரலாற்றில் தனி இடம் பெற்றது.

100வது படம் box office-ல் சரியாக போகாது என்ற ஒரு ‘செண்டிமெண்ட்’ இருந்தது. அந்த மூடநம்பிக்கையை உடைத்தவர் விஜயகாந்த்.

அவரின் 100வது படம் கேப்டன் பிரபாகரன் மிகப்பெரிய வெற்றியைப் பெற்றது.

அதன் பின் தான் ரசிகர்கள் அவரை செல்லமாக “கேப்டன்” என்று அழைக்க ஆரம்பித்தனர்.

அந்த தருணத்திலிருந்து தமிழகம் முழுக்க அவர் ரசிகர்களின் பேரரசு ஆச்சரியமாக வளர்ந்தது.

அந்த காலத்தில் வந்த

விஜயகாந்த் – P.வாசு காம்போவில் வந்த பொன்மனைசெம்மல் ஒரு முத்திரை பதித்த படம். அண்ணன்-தம்பி-தங்கை பாசத்தோடு, இளையராஜாவின் இசை – இன்னும் கேட்க bore ஆகாதவை. “பொட்டு வைச்ச தங்க குடம்” பாடல் இன்றும் trending-ல் தான்.

பிறகு அடுத்த தலைமுறை நடிகர்களுடன் போட்டியிட்டும், இயக்குனர் ஷங்கரின் முதல்வன், தாஜ்மஹால் போன்ற படங்களோடு, கேப்டனின் கண்ணுப்பட போகுதய்யா தீபாவளியில் வெளியானது.

B & C செண்டர்களில் சொல்லி வைத்த மாதிரி ஹிட்டு அடிச்சது. சிம்ரனுடன் நடித்த மூக்குத்தி முத்தழகு – எப்போதுமே favourite ❤️

அதன்பின், ஆளவந்தான், ஷாஜகான், நந்தா படங்களோடு தீபாவளியில் போட்டியிட்ட தவசி. அந்த நாள் வின்னர் யாருன்னா – கேப்டன்தான். பிரதியுஷாவுடன் அவர் ஆடிய பாடல், ரசிகர்களுக்கே அந்த படம் நினைவு வர காரணம்.

ஆனா என்னோட மனசுக்குள் special இடம் பிடிச்ச படம் வல்லரசு.

அதில் வரும் காவிரி நீர் காட்சி மறக்க முடியாதது.

“சென்னைக்கே வர்றது, தமிழ்நாட்டுக்கு காவிரி தரக்கூடாது”னு பாராளுமன்றத்தில் சொன்ன MP. அவரை தீவிரவாதிகளிடமிருந்து காப்பாற்றும் கேப்டன்.

கடைசியில் அந்த MP, “உன் ஒருவனுக்காவது காவிரி தண்ணீர் தரச் சொல்றேன்”னு சொல்வது – காமெடியா இருந்தாலும் goosebumps தரும் dialogue. தியேட்டர்ல கைகள் தட்ட வைக்க வைத்த iconic scene அது.

இன்று ஆகஸ்ட் 25. கேப்டனின் பிறந்த நாள்.

இன்று அவர் நம்மோடு இல்லை. ஆனாலும், அவரது படங்களும், ரசிகர்களின் அன்பும், அவர் விட்டுச்சென்ற நினைவுகளும் – எப்போதுமே நம்மோடு இருக்கும்.

The very first Vijayakanth film I watched in a theatre during my childhood was Chinna Gounder. That memory still stays fresh in my heart.

After Super Star Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, the one actor who carved a separate space in Tamil cinema with immense fan support across South Tamil Nadu was none other than our Captain Vijayakanth.

At a time when colorful heroes dominated the screen, he emerged as a black diamond from Madurai and the southern districts.

The film Vaidhegi Kaathirundhaal gave him a strong identity. His performance in the film and the evergreen song Rasathi Unna still linger in households, humming across generations.

From then on, Vijayakanth’s films earned him a unique fan base, especially for his powerful fight sequences.

One such milestone was Pulan Visaranai – a film that stood apart, succeeding without a single song, which was quite rare in Tamil cinema of that era.

In Tamil cinema, there was always a superstition that an actor’s 100th film wouldn’t succeed. But Vijayakanth broke that belief with his blockbuster Captain Prabhakaran.

From then, fans lovingly began calling him “Captain.”

That was the turning point when his stardom spread beyond the south to all corners of Tamil Nadu.

Songs from Chinna Gounder, the action scenes, the dialogues – they continue to be played and celebrated in villages and towns even today.

This string of successes even influenced Rajinikanth. It was the impact of Chinna Gounder that made Superstar request director R.V. Udayakumar to work with him, resulting in Ejamaan.

The combination of Senthil–Goundamani comedy, emotions, and hit songs made it a perfect commercial blockbuster.

Vijayakanth’s collaboration with director P. Vasu gave us Ponmana Selvan, a film that beautifully portrayed the bond between siblings.

With Ilaiyaraaja’s music, songs like Pottu Vaicha Thangam Kudam are still trending and widely loved.

Later, competing with films like Shankar’s Muthalvan and Taj Mahal, Captain released Kannu Pada Pogudhaiyaa for Deepavali.

As expected, he scored a big win in the B & C centres.

His pairing with Simran gave us the evergreen Mookkuthi Muthazhagu, a song that remains a fan favourite ❤️

The same happened during the Diwali releases of Aalavandhan, Shahjahan, and Nandha. Competing with these, Vijayakanth’s Thavasi emerged as the winner of that festival season.

The song featuring him with Prathyusha is still remembered fondly by fans.

But among all his films, the one closest to my heart is Vallarasu.

The scene revolving around the Cauvery water issue is unforgettable.

In the film, an MP from Mysore who opposed granting Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu becomes a target for terrorists. Vijayakanth, as the police officer, saves him.

In the end, the MP says, “At least for you, I’ll say yes to giving Cauvery water.”

Though delivered with a touch of humour, that dialogue gave goosebumps and made the entire theatre clap with emotion.

Today, August 25, marks the birthday of our beloved Captain Vijayakanth.

Though he is no longer with us, his films, his fans’ love, and the legacy he left behind will forever remain alive in our hearts.

The scene revolving around the Cauvery water issue is unforgettable.

In the film, an MP from Mysore who opposed granting Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu becomes a target for terrorists. Vijayakanth, as the police officer, saves him.

In the end, the MP says, “At least for you, I’ll say yes to giving Cauvery water.”

Though delivered with a touch of humour, that dialogue gave goosebumps and made the entire theatre clap with emotion.

Today, August 25, marks the birthday of our beloved Captain Vijayakanth.

Though he is no longer with us, his films, his fans’ love, and the legacy he left behind will forever remain alive in our hearts.

 Refugee – A Word Full of Pain

The devastating floods of 2015 that crippled Chennai can never be forgotten. Among the worst-affected areas was Mudichur. The place where I lived was completely submerged, and it felt like being stranded on an island. I was lost, not knowing what to do.

At that very moment, I received a call from my friend—

“Don’t think twice. Just come over to my house immediately,” he said.

He knew me well. If he had continued talking, I might have come up with some excuse to decline. Twelve years of friendship had made him understand me completely.

The Comfort of Friendship

Once I reached his place, it took me a day to regain my mental balance. Long conversations, laughter, and casual chats slowly brought me back to normal. Luckily, there was a bus facility from his locality to my office, so travel wasn’t a problem.

One day, while traveling by bus, I met a colleague. With a look of surprise, he asked,

“How come you’re in this area?”

I replied that I was staying at my friend’s house.

A few days later, while sipping coffee at the office, that same colleague casually remarked with a laugh,

“Right now, Raja is in our area. Until things settle down, our neighborhood is like a refugee camp for him!”

That moment was when I truly felt the pain behind the word “refugee.”

Until then, I had only read or heard the word in newspapers and on TV. If moving from one part of the same city to another could feel so painful, how much greater must the suffering be for those who leave their homeland entirely and are forced to live as refugees in another country?

From that day onwards, whenever I come across the word “refugee,” a strange, indescribable sadness takes hold of me.

As the story goes —

Friendship... and Understanding!

In my observation, the root cause of many misunderstandings between friends these days is the lack of one crucial element: understanding.

If that understanding exists, even ordinary moments become unforgettable scenes — full of fun, emotion, and meaning.

Two such beautiful and powerful memories from my college life stand as small but strong examples of what real understanding among friends looks like.

Episode 1: Laughter on the Wall — and the Understanding Below

Selvaraj and David — my closest friends.

From college days till today, we’ve remained the same.

Despite multiple warnings and advice from others,

in our final year of college, we decided to move out of the college hostel and rent a house.

It was a lovely house in Sasi Nagar, near Sivakasi.

Seven students from the ECE department and three of us from CSE — ten of us shared the place.

For us, who were once like caged parrots in the hostel,

this house felt like wings had been given to us — and we were finally free to fly.

There was a compound wall around the house.

We often sat on the short wall, chatting endlessly, telling stories, and laughing together.

One day, while we were sitting on that wall,

our ECE friends were having a serious conversation.

In the middle of that silence, I cracked a silly joke.

Selva and David couldn’t hold back their laughter.

One of the friends turned with a sharp look and said,

“We’re having a serious conversation here… you guys just don’t get it!”

Without a word, I jumped down from the wall.

And within a second — four more feet landed beside mine!

The three of us looked at each other and walked away with a smile.

Two hours later…

That friend’s serious talk faded away.

I had moved on.

But the fact that my friends walked away with me, without even asking why —

that was our understanding.

That moment… revealed it all.

Episode 2: A-Section Class — The Opposition Walkout!

In our 8th semester, classes were sparse.

Students from both A and B sections used to attend together.

On one such day, an A-section professor was taking class.

He looked at us and said,

“This is an A-section class… others may stay if they want.”

A few minutes later, he repeated the same line again.

We let it slide.

But when he said it for the third time,

Selva stood up — no hesitation.

Even before he turned around, David and I were already on our feet.

All three of us walked out at the same time —

just like opposition leaders making a strong statement!

Seeing us, even the girls from Section B walked out.

That tiny scene… unforgettable. And pure mass. 🔥😀

இன்று நண்பர்களுக்கிடையே நடக்கும் பல குழப்பங்களுக்கு,

இந்த "புரிதல்" இல்லாததே தான் முதல் காரணம் என்பது என் அவதானிப்பு.

அந்த புரிதல் இருந்திருந்தால், நடக்கும் சம்பவங்கள் சுவாரசியமாகவும் , 

என்றும் மனதில் அழியாத காட்சியாகவும் நினைவில் இருக்கும்.

அப்படி ஒரு அழகான, மற்றும் அழுத்தமான நினைவுகள், என் கல்லூரி காலத்தில் நடந்த இரண்டு சம்பவங்கள் — இந்த "புரிதலுக்கான" சிறு சான்றுகள்!

சம்பவம் 1: சுவர் மீதி சிரிப்பும் – கீழே விழுந்த புரிதலும்

செல்வராஜ் , டேவிட் — இவர்கள் இருவரும் என் நெருக்கமான நண்பர்கள்.

கல்லூரி காலம் முதல் இன்று வரை!

யார் எவ்ளோ சொல்லியும் கேக்காமல்,

கல்லூரி Final year-ல், 

கல்லூரி விடுதியை விட்டு வெளியே தங்க முடிவெடுத்தோம்.

சிவகாசி அருகில் உள்ள சசி நகர் ஒரு அழகான வீடு.

அதுல ECE-dept 7 பேரும் , நாங்கள் CSE-யில் படித்த 3 பேரும் — மொத்தம் 10 பேர் சேர்ந்திருந்தோம்.

விடுதியில் கிளிகளாக இருந்த எங்களுக்கே ,

இந்த வீடு ரெக்கை கட்டி பறக்கும் பறவைகள் போல ஒரு உற்சாகத்தை தந்தது.

அந்த வீட்டை சுற்றி ஒரு compound சுவர் இருந்தது.

அதில் குட்டி சுவர் மேலே ஏறி, வெட்டி கதை பேசி மகிழ்ந்த நாட்கள்.

ஒருநாள் அந்த சுவரில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தபோது,

ECE நண்பர்கள் ஏதோ serious-ஆ பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

அந்த நேரத்தில் நான் ஏதோ நகைச்சுவையாக சொல்ல,

செல்வாவும், டேவிடும் சிரிச்சாங்க.

அதைப் பார்த்த ஒரு நண்பன், 

உற்ற் முகத்துடன் ,

"நாங்க இங்க serious பேசுறோம்... உங்களுக்கு புரியாது!" என்று சொன்னான்.

நான் அந்த சுவரிலிருந்து கீழே குதித்தேன்.

அதே நேரத்தில், மேலும் நான்கு கால்கள் தரையில் பதிந்த சத்தம்!

மூவரும் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் பார்த்து , புன்னகையுடன் அந்த இடத்தை விட்டு நகர்ந்தோம்.

அடுத்த 2 மணி நேரத்தில், சுறுக்கிய முகம் கொண்ட அந்த நண்பன் பேசியது ஒரு புறம்,

நான் கிளம்ப தயாரானது ஒரு புறம்.

ஆனால் என் வாயில் வாராமல், என்னுடன் வந்துவிட்ட நண்பர்கள் —

அதுவே எங்களுக்குள் இருந்த புரிதல்!

அந்த understanding, அந்த தருணத்தில் வெளிப்பட்டது.

சம்பவம் 2: A Section Class – Opposition Walkout!

8வது செமஸ்டர் என்றால், வகுப்புகள் குறைவா இருக்கும்.

வரும் மாணவர்களும் குறைவா இருப்பதால், A & B section மாணவர்கள் ஒன்றாக அமர்ந்திருப்போம்.

அந்த situation-ல் A section பேராசிரியர் class எடுத்தார்.

எங்களை பார்த்து,

"இது A section class… மற்றவர்கள் விருப்பமிருந்தால் இருக்கலாம்" என்றார்.

அதற்குப் பிறகு, அதே வார்த்தைகள், இரண்டாவது முறை பேராசிரியரிடமிருந்தும்.

அதற்கும் பரவாயில்லைன்னு இருந்தோம்.

ஆனா மூன்றாவது முறையும் அதே மாதிரி பேச ,

சிறிதும் தாமதிக்காமல் செல்வா எழுந்து விட்டான்.

அவன் திரும்பிப் பார்ப்பதற்குள், நானும் , டேவிட்டும் எழுந்தோம்.

மூவரும் ஒரே சமயம்

எங்களை பார்த்து B பிரிவின் பெண்களும் வெளியேறினாங்க –
