One of the special traits of Tamil cinema is its ability to foresee and portray future social threats on screen.
For example, in 7aum Arivu, the villain spreads a virus from China through a dog to destabilize the state – years later, we actually witnessed something similar with the Covid pandemic.
In the same way, director A.R. Murugadoss delivers his next warning through Madaraasi – the rise of gun culture in Tamil Nadu and how it slowly spreads to everyone. The film follows the journey of the NIA as they attempt to tackle this threat.
Sivakarthikeyan, as the protagonist, starts off light with humor in the first half, gradually shifting gears to transform into a full-fledged action hero in the second.
The villains, Shabeer and Vidyut, are the film’s real strength – they go all out, blasting through with double-barrel intensity.
Rukmini plays the female lead with charm and grace. Beyond her beauty, she shines in the love-breakup portions with Sivakarthikeyan, carrying her role effectively.
Anirudh’s music is another highlight. Two songs are instantly hummable, while his background score elevates the tension and action with high energy. 🔥
Screenplay:
➡️ First half – fast-paced, engaging, with the right dose of humor.
➡️ Second half – a little predictable, but Murugadoss’ tight narration ensures it never gets boring.
Overall – Madaraasi stands tall as a solid action entertainer that keeps you hooked and delivers Murugadoss’ trademark thrills.
